Nathan McCarter Joinery is a humble, yet progressive joinery business, bringing together master craftsmen, traditional methods, and contemporary tooling. In creating beautifully bespoke and handcrafted timber doors and windows, we give our discerning customers both quality and service from concept to completion and aftercare.

Originally set up in 2007, over the years we’ve established an unrivalled reputation which has seen an increase in demand for our joinery services. Our continued success has brought impressive growth and, as a result, has seen us move to our larger workshop premises in Tavistock.

As we continue to invest in experience and capability, our productivity and efficiency increase, helping us create artisan timber windows and doors that combine character and performance for your home. As such, Nathan McCarter Joinery has become a name synonymous with quality.

Complete project management

We pride ourselves in offering you a complete service with every stage of production taking place in our workshop – from initial concepts and ideas to fully detailed plans, manufacturing, spraying, glazing, and finishing. We’re also able to dispose of your existing window or door units, giving us an area ready for our expert installation service and the fitting of your new units.

But it’s our experience in heritage and period joinery that gives us specialist knowledge in working within protected areas and on traditional or Grade I and II listed buildings. With our craftsmanship covering all styles of joinery, from period to architectural and historic commissions, our project management can help you with any building consent and technical drawings or plans.

Environmentally sustainable

Each door or window we create is completely unique, handcrafted, and made to measure from hardwood or Accoya timbers. Our motivation to use Accoya lay in its sustainability. As well as being naturally renewable–timber can be grown in 25 years but will last many decades in application with the right maintenance–it’s non-toxic and can be reused & recycled safely.

Accoya also has a high level of durability and stability. With swelling and shrinkage reduced by up to 75%, Accoya increases the lifespan of any external product, giving an all-round excellent performance and the benefit of fewer maintenance costs – all with a guarantee of 50 years.

We also do as much as we can to be an environmentally forward-thinking company. Wherever possible we re-use packaging from our suppliers, saving on plastic waste, and we use water-based paints, eliminating any harmful solvents and reducing the release of volatile organic compounds (VOC). Even our workshop is heated by an eco-friendly wood-burning stove using waste Accoya timber.
